How to feel steady when your next step isn’t clear.

There’s a strange weight that comes with being “in between.”
You’re not exactly where you were, but you’re not fully where you’re going, either. You’re answering questions with vague half-truths like “figuring things out” or “taking some time,” hoping no one asks too many follow-ups. You refresh job boards, reread old plans, and try not to spiral when someone posts a life update that makes you feel ten steps behind.
Transition seasons can be deeply disorienting. They’re quiet, awkward, and not very shareable. And when the world around you is constantly moving- people pivoting, posting, promoting -it can feel like stillness equals stagnation.
Honestly, being in the inbetween can feel directionless and helpless but remember: you’re in the process, not lost. And process is not a pause. It’s a real, valid part of your story.
🌀 The myth of constant progress
We’re taught to measure our lives in clear markers: jobs, moves, relationships, wins. Anything that looks like motion. Anything that fits on a resume.
But our real growth will happen in the space between those milestones. In the not-knowing. In the uncomfortable shedding of something that no longer fits before you’re ready to try on something new.
This space is sacred, even if it doesn’t look impressive on paper. It’s where you get to ask better questions. Where you start to listen inward. Where you unhook your worth from external validation and start asking, “What do I actually want next?”
🌱 Gentle ways to be in transition (without spiraling)
You don’t need a 90-day plan to make this season count. You need a container…not for pressure, but for learning.
Here are a few ways you can support yourself through it:
🔎 Start a “Clues List.” Write down any moments of clarity, resonance, or gut feeling (even if they don’t lead to a clear answer yet.) Think: “I felt energized after helping my friend brainstorm,” or “I keep bookmarking articles about mental health tech.”
🏠 Create micro-structures. When everything feels uncertain, small routines help you stay grounded. Even something as simple as “walk before scrolling” or “one slow coffee each morning” can be enough to remind you that you’re still showing up.
👁️ Use visibility as practice, not performance. Post one line on LinkedIn or text a friend about where you’re at. It’s not to impress, but to gently name your process out loud. You should be seen, even when you’re in progress, cause it’ll feel good to look back on your milestones in the future 🙂
⚖️ Resist the comparison trap. If you catch yourself spiraling, ask: “Am I comparing my becoming to someone else’s announcement?” Most people don’t post about their transitions, only their arrivals.
🌿 Transition isn’t wasted time
It’s easy to feel like nothing is happening when you’re not producing tangible outcomes. But the internal shifts you’re making now? They’re setting the stage for what comes next. Transition is when you start to realize which parts of yourself are non-negotiable.
This time you have now isn’t wasted time. It’s your slow rebuilding of alignment. And when your next opportunity comes (and it will), you’ll be able to meet it with more clarity, more boundaries, and more of you intact.

Real or AI 🤖
Last week we had to decide which of those delicious poke bowls was real, and which was AI… and I just want to say: your detective skills are on point. 🕵️♀️🍣 Turns out there was a mix-up on my end - Image 2 was actually the real poke bowl. 91% of y’all were RIGHT! 🐟️👏

This week, imagine you’re walking along the shore, feeling the sun on your face. You stumble on this towering sandcastle masterpiece. There’s whimsical little details, carefully sculpted staircases, and the kind of seaside magic that makes you pause.
But, there’s not too many people on this beach… so, was it built by hand or by machine?

🔁 You’re not behind. You’re in between.
You don’t have to rush through the unknown just to prove you’re doing something. You’re allowed to take your time. You’re allowed to move slower. You’re allowed to be soft with yourself while the next version of you unfolds.
Even in this space- especially in this space- you are not behind. You’re becoming.
we’re in this together,
